An air filter housing manufacturer makes the structural terminal module, ceiling grid, or HEPA box that holds the filter. Some manufacturers supply both. In cleanrooms, the filter and housing must be matched — a mismatched interface causes bypass leakage.

Are HEPA-type filters the same as certified HEPA filters?

No. ‘HEPA-type’, ‘HEPA-like’, and ‘HEPA-style’ are marketing descriptions, not efficiency certifications. A certified HEPA filter has been individually tested to a defined standard (EN 1822, ISO 29463, or DOE). Products without individual test documentation cannot be verified as meeting HEPA performance and should not be used in regulated cleanrooms or pharmaceutical facilities.

What documents should a HEPA filter manufacturer provide?

  • Individual scan test certificate for each filter element (not just the product model)
  • Efficiency at MPPS and at 0.3 micron (both local and overall)
  • Pressure drop at rated airflow
  • EN 1822 / ISO 29463 classification confirmation
  • Leak test report if available
  • Batch traceability documentation for pharmaceutical applications
